Renting a convertible 2021 Aston Martin DB11 from PrimeRent was an experience that added a layer of luxury and adventure to my journey through Tuscany. In this blog post, I’ll share a step-by-step guide on how to rent this stunning vehicle, my personal experience with the car and service, and some highlights from my three-day Tuscan road trip in Italy. This guide should be helpful for anyone trying to rent an exotic car in Europe as PrimeRent will rent cars in most major European countries. Note that this trip occurred in April of 2023, so costs will surely go up with time/inflation.
How to Rent the Aston Martin DB11 from PrimeRent in Italy
Research and Booking:
Start by visiting PrimeRent’s website or contacting their customer service. Their platform is user-friendly, with a wide selection of luxury vehicles available. They have many exotic car options including Ferrari's, Porsche's, Audi's, etc...
Make the reservation online or via phone. You’ll need to provide a valid driver’s license, passport, and a credit card for the deposit.
Note that you can negotiate. They may not change the price, but if you can find another service to price match against, they may match it.
Delivery and Pick-Up Arrangements:
PrimeRent offers flexible delivery and pick-up options. I arranged for the car to be delivered directly to my hotel in Florence, which was seamless and stress-free. Note--this does not cost any extra! This is part of the package.
For the return, I scheduled the pick-up at Florence’s train station. The team arrived promptly, making the entire process incredibly convenient and I was able to hop on the train to go down to Rome to catch my flight.
Cost:
The rental cost was €950 per day. For three days, the total came to €2850.
They give you 150km (93 miles) per day to use the car included in that price. If you go over, they start charging you per mile, but again, I believe this is negotiable but we didn't exceed the limit.
While it’s a premium price, the experience was worth every penny for the level of service and the thrill of driving a luxury car through Tuscany.
Insurance and Paperwork:
PrimeRent provides comprehensive insurance options. I used my Amex Plantinum to book the excursion knowing that I have automatic enhanced rental insurance with that credit card.
The paperwork was straightforward and took less than 15 minutes during the car’s delivery.
My Experience Driving the Aston Martin DB11
The Aston Martin DB11 is a masterpiece of design and performance. From the moment I slid into the driver’s seat, I knew this journey would be special. The leather interior, cutting-edge technology, and the purr of the V8 engine set the tone for a luxurious adventure. The convertible roof allowed me to fully immerse myself in the Tuscan countryside’s beauty, feeling the sun on my skin and the wind in my hair as I drove along winding roads.
The car’s handling was impeccable. Whether navigating the narrow streets of small towns or cruising through rolling hills, the DB11 offered a smooth and exhilarating ride. Its blend of power and elegance made every moment behind the wheel unforgettable.

Highlights from My Tuscan Road Trip
Day 1: Florence to Montepulciano
After picking up the Aston Martin at my hotel, I headed south toward Montepulciano. The drive took about two hours, but I made several stops to admire the stunning landscapes and take photos. Arriving in Montepulciano, I stayed at a charming boutique hotel with breathtaking views of the vineyards.
That evening, I explored the historic town, known for its Renaissance architecture and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine. The car turned heads everywhere I went, adding a touch of glamour to my stay.
Day 2: Exploring Vineyards and Small Towns
The second day was dedicated to visiting vineyards and quaint towns around Montepulciano. The Aston Martin made hopping between locations effortless and stylish. Highlights included:
Avignonesi Winery: A tour and tasting session at this renowned vineyard.
Pienza: A picturesque town famous for its pecorino cheese and stunning views.
Bagno Vignoni: A charming village with natural hot springs.
Driving through the rolling hills of Tuscany, I appreciated the car’s convertible roof, which enhanced the sensory experience of the region’s sights, sounds, and scents.
Day 3: Return to Florence
On my final day, I took a leisurely route back to Florence, stopping in Siena for lunch and a quick stroll around the Piazza del Campo. The Aston Martin performed well, even in the city’s more congested areas, but its wide body definitely made it scary to drive down some of the tighter streets of Florence. Dropping off the car at the train station was as effortless as the delivery. The PrimeRent team was waiting for me, completing the experience on a high note.
Final Thoughts
Renting the Aston Martin DB11 from PrimeRent was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that elevated my Tuscan getaway. The combination of world-class service, a breathtaking vehicle, and the stunning landscapes of Tuscany created memories I’ll cherish forever. While the cost may be steep, the experience is worth it for those seeking a luxurious and adventurous journey.
If you’re considering renting a luxury car in Italy, I wholeheartedly recommend PrimeRent. And if Tuscany is your destination, there’s no better way to explore its rolling hills, historic towns, and picturesque vineyards than from behind the wheel of an Aston Martin DB11 Convertible.
